Our journey began in the aftermath of the first Covid lockdown,
starting modestly with borrowed footballs and a few cones. Today, we proudly offer 16 hours of dedicated coaching each week to around 40 goalkeepers.
Our Founder: Danny Sambridge
Danny Sambridge, the heart and soul of Effective Goalkeeping, brings a wealth of experience with over 600 games in non-league football. His impressive career includes pivotal roles at Witham Town, Heybridge Swifts, Maldon & Tiptree, Coggeshall Town, and currently, Grays Athletic.
Danny’s footballing journey was cultivated from a young age, having honed his skills at the academy of Millwall and securing a scholarship at Dagenham and Redbridge FC during their tenure in the football league. His deep understanding of the game and personal experience at various competitive levels lends a unique perspective to our coaching philosophy.
Our Philosophy
At Effective Goalkeeping, we believe in nurturing talent from the ground up. We welcome goalkeepers from age 6 and beyond, coaching all levels from complete novices to those keeping goal for professional clubs.
Our ethos revolves around not just teaching the technicalities of goalkeeping but instilling a love for this critical and often heroic position.

Our keepers have been lauded for their dedication and performance, with many winning coveted player of the season awards. Several of our goalkeepers have risen through the ranks, moving up divisions, and continuing their development with new teams. A proud feather in our cap is watching some of our most dedicated keepers make the significant leap into academy football, signing with professional clubs.
